How Intentional Are You?
8/2/23
Hi There!
How are you doing, really? I’d like for you to ask yourself that question and answer it honestly, whether it be to yourself or by emailing me back with your response. Being honest with ourselves helps us to get to know ourselves and it also helps to separate our needs, wants, goals and priorities from others.
I am currently on a beach vacation with my family in North Carolina! We have our two young children (11 months and 2.5 years), along with six other people (family) in the house. Vacation looks a little different for me these days- it consists of about a 6am wake up time and not stopping (unless we get lucky enough that the kids nap well) until 8pm. There is sand, sunscreen, smiles, meltdowns, and lots of swimsuit changes. It’s chaos but beautiful at the same time!
Since becoming a mother, I have quickly realized that if I’m not honest with myself and my husband about what I need and want, I will never do anything for myself. Vacation is no different! I have intentionally made time for daily movement on the balcony, intentionally made sure I have carried my heavy 40oz water bottle to the beach (trust me, with all the other stuff we are schlepping, I wouldn’t remember unless it was top of mind), intentionally asked for specific food items I wanted from the store, and made time for mental quiet breaks from the stimulation.
All that being said- here’s why it matters to you. This week I want you to notice how many times you intentionally do something for yourself or even ask yourself “How am I, really?”
Just notice. You may notice you are someone who intentionally prioritizes yourself, or you may notice you haven’t done anything for YOU in quite some time. Whatever it is, be completely honest in your observation.
In conclusion, I will ask you this: What is something you would make time for if you could?
Have a wonderful rest of your week, and as always, I would love to hear back from you! Feel free to email me any questions, comments or feedback.
